We take a road trip to Georgia from Boston every Spring. It's a long, 22+ hour drive that is full of lots of challenges. But one of the things we do correctly is our choice of transportation. Rather than ride a horse or travel in a hot-air balloon, we drive. I realize that sounds silly, but there are always choices. For our road trip, the best choice is also the one that makes the most common sense. But for many of our choices each day, the difference between a good decision and a bad one are hard to spot.
Freelancing is a journey and an adventure, and like all road trips, one of the keys to your success is in picking the right mode of transportation, so to speak. Picking the right tool can mean the difference between a job taking you 4 hours or 6 hours. Picking the best communication method for a client could mean the difference between nailing their wish list or missing the mark. Our choices matter.
Sometimes the best choice is obvious, but most of the time it's not. The better you get at making those wise decisions, the longer your freelance business will last, and the higher you'll be able to climb.
